Beluga Point is a place where you can stand so close to feeding Beluga whales that you can hear them breathe! Just a few minutes past the weigh station on the Seward Highway south of Anchorage, it is a beautiful place to watch the waters of Turnagain Arm display their power or sit and consider the sunset.
If you're thinking of walking on that mud, please DON'T! Several people have perished because this stuff literally seems to suck you under.

$90 P/P Full Day.

After a few minutes of enjoying this incredible beauty, you may find yourself heading east toward Alyeska Ski Resort at Girdwood. Along the way you may encounter several families of our mountain goats. If you stop or slow down to watch them, just pull over to the side for the sake of safety. There are pull-outs in most places where the goats are frequently seen. One of the fascinating natural features of the Anchorage area is its bore tide that can be seen on both Turnagain and Knik Arms. Bore tides occur in many parts of the world, over 60 in fact, but only in a few places do they become large enough to gain notoriety. Tourists and locals alike will drive along the Seward Highway and park in pull-outs to watch the bore work its way up Turnagain Arm. What they will see is a breaking wave that extends across the water channel, moving against the outgoing tide. Our local bore can attain heights up to six feet and speeds of 10 to 15 miles an hour.Continuing along the Seward Highway, you'll find Girdwood, home of attractions such as the Kobuk Valley Jade Company and the Alyeska Prince tram. Even in summer the tram ride is well worth the few dollars it takes. You may even see young black bears cavorting on the emerald slopes.Watch huge pieces of solid jade being cut at the Jade Company. And then, after refreshments at a local restaurant, you'll have time to continue on to Portage Glacier. If your trip is in June, you'll have lots of time to look around and see this corner of Alaska. Daylight will be the order of the day for up to 18-1/2 hours! As a matter of fact, some nights it doesn't even get dark! For more information about Girdwood, check out
